Epic Media in the US: 697 sales at $13 each
Lead generation for an online movie platform
Epic Media is an online platform offering films, series and TV shows at lower prices than competitors.
Unlike subscription services, purchased content remains available to the customer permanently.
Main objective
Before working with us, the client ran ads independently but did not get the desired results: each purchase cost more than $30.
Our goal was to reduce cost per purchase to $10–14 and build a steady flow of sales.
Website analysis and recommendations
Before launching campaigns, we audited the website and recommended changes to improve conversion:
- Add reviews as social proof.
- Bundle multi-part film collections to increase average order value.
- Optimise product pages.
Result: conversion rose from 1.97% to 3.48%.
Launching the first campaigns
- Focused on collections of classic films, one of the service’s key advantages.
- Launched Christmas movie ads in December.
- Prepared creatives around the service’s main benefits:
- Films without ads;
- Permanent access and downloads;
- Prices below competitors.
Result: campaigns began generating steady sales within the KPI, so we started scaling.
Testing new hypotheses
To avoid relying on only a few successful campaigns, we tested additional hypotheses:
- Travel audiences with film offers for long journeys;
- Humorous creatives;
- A creative featuring the popular film Gladiator.
Best hypothesis: a travel campaign generated 27 sales at $14 each.
Adding retargeting
Once the audience was large enough, we launched retargeting for people who had viewed product pages or added an item to their cart without buying.
We tested manual and dynamic retargeting. Dynamic retargeting performed best, generating 43 sales at $4.79 each.
Scaling successful campaigns
After successful tests, we increased budgets in the US and added new markets:
- United Kingdom;
- Canada;
- Australia;
- New Zealand.
Result: 117 sales at $11.47 each.
